WHO WE ARE

Who Is House of Joy?

House of Joy is a group of individuals and families that has grown into a community called to “love your neighbor as yourself”; this love is demonstrated through serving people. Our mission of restoration carries many visions within it, and the visions are as varied as the people who carry them. We serve as a storehouse of provisions that generate change, create possibilities and give hope through:

● People serving people

● Stewarding community resources donated by business and industry to aid and support our programs and projects

● Forming connective partnerships that shape an adequate response to the community

● Empowering through teaching and training

It is with joy that we serve those who come to our door. It is with purpose that we offer “who we are” as much as “what we have.” It is with faith that we serve, believing that through a process of transformation, all things are made new.

The tenets that guard the vision and support the mission are:

● We believe that restoration begins with “the one.”

● We believe restoration, when creative, changes the one who serves as well as the one who is served, the one who gives as well as the one who receives.

● We believe this house is to be a storehouse of provision to supply the needs of others.

● We believe that our expression of “helps,” in reality, are many parts that build community wholeness.

● We believe that the lifeblood of House of Joy is the people who serve, and they, as well as the programs and projects, are to be submitted one to the other, affirming the importance of each.

● We believe our mission will be a beacon of hope that generates the power for the purpose and process of restoration of hearts and lives.

● We believe the foundation of this house has already been laid through the Life of Jesus Christ, and this house will be built with “joy.”

As House of Joy offers itself to serve, we believe that we will learn, grow and experience our own changes and then “be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that His greatness can be displayed through the work of our hands” (Isaiah 61:3). It is with confidence that we step into places of disrepair, devastations and ruin knowing that the works have been prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10). We will rebuild; we will raise up and repair many precious individuals, families and communities through our “ministry of helps” and thereby create an impact that will change cities, states, nations and even the world. Impacting the world is only possible in the changing of “one heart.” It all begins with “the one.”
